To ensure information accuracy and the efficient implementation
of a client's website, RileyMEDIA utilizes a four step development
methodology: (1) needs assessment, (2) information / interaction
design, (3) interface design, (4) site integration / review.
- Needs Assessment: The initial stage of any successful
project involves planning. RileyMEDIA will assist the client
in the process of transforming a vague and difficult to
define multimedia project into an exacting product. To accomplish
this project, RileyMEDIA will work with the client to render
a needs assessment that will (1) determine the goals and
objectives of the client's website (2) identify the target
audience, (3) define the content, and (4) select the proper
technology. Once these issues have been identified and defined,
RileyMEDIA will post them in a design brief in the client
area of the RileyMEDIA website.
- Information / Interaction Design: Information Design involves
determining the best structure to deliver the content to
an identified audience. Interaction design involves selecting
compelling website functionality and session design for
dynamic content to create an engaging experience. To ensure
the integrity and effectiveness of the client's website,
all of the goals for the site, as well as the target audience
viewing the site, will be considered. RileyMEDIA will provide
a schematic detailing the architecture of the site including
content location and navigational structure. This schematic
will be posted for review and signoff in the client area
on RileyMEDIA’s website. Additionally, the functionality
and user orientation will be described in an interaction
flow chart detailing the behaviors of each of the objects
(text, images, buttons, etc.) on the site’s featured
pages. The information and interaction design schematics
act as “blue prints” from which the interface
will be designed. All of this information will be presented
as the project progresses in the client area on RileyMEDIA’s
website. Once the client has signed-off on the information
/ interaction design, RileyMEDIA can proceed with the interface
design phase.
- Interface Design: Interface design involves developing
the look and feel of the website. This look and feel is
drawn from the navigational components such as buttons and
headers as well as overall page layouts. The visual style
of the site will be designed with the target audience in
mind while maintaining consistency with the client's current
identity and overall site usability. The look and feel of
the website will be developed as composite images posted
to the client login area on the RileyMEDIA website. These
images will represent interface layout approaches. At this
time, any changes to the design will be discussed and made.
Once the client has signed-off on the composite interface
design, RileyMEDIA can begin to integrate the actual website.
- Site Integration/Review: The integration of the website
involves combining the graphical elements, text and specialized
code and/or other interactive media elements. This could
also include server programming and permissions. Once the
site has been integrated, it will be available for client
review. Only after the client and RileyMEDIA have reviewed
the site will it be published on the Web.
